Gerard began his career in the insurance sector, where he rethought investment strategies and launched insurance-linked investment funds. He subsequently moved into financial
consultancy, with a strong focus on risk management. He advised clients nationally through his own advisory practice and internationally within the European Centre of Excellence on Energy & Commodity Risk Management, which he established with Deloitte. His expertise covers interest rate, foreign exchange, energy and carbon risks.

Through his work in carbon and sustainability, Gerard became active at the intersection of finance and sustainability, including serving as Director Finance & Sustainability at Holland Financial Centre. For the past ten years, he has been associated with Ilfa, focusing on debt advisory. He is now working with Ilfa to further introduce the Finance Impact Monitor, integrating sustainability structurally into treasury management.
