MEET Farah Lahbib

Mrs. Farah LAHBIB spent 25 years, leading various innovations in corporate treasury and trade financing. She played strategic and key roles in large Moroccan Corporations, where she led the successful establishment and the continuous enhancement of Corporate Treasury & Trade Finance Strategies.

Mrs. Lahbib’s collaborative efforts with prominent multilateral development banks and international institutions have been pivotal in strengthening African markets, through the promotion of sustainable and inclusive financing solutions, thereby making significant contributions to addressing fundamental financing challenges in food security.

She is now the Director in charge of Trade Finance and Credit management at OCP Group. In this crucial role, she oversees the securitization and financing of OCP Group’s export operations, playing a key role in ensuring its secured growth.

Her expertise extends beyond conventional financial management, actively shaping International Trade finance and risk management practices. Mrs. Lahbib has been at the forefront of numerous strategic initiatives, addressing a range of economic and commercial challenges. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she adopted a proactive approach to successfully manage supply chain disruptions by leading the launch of the first 100% African Blockchain venture focused on securing and financing OCP’s exports to the Ethiopian market. This innovative initiative has not only enhanced productivity but also significantly improved cash flow efficiency, marking a major advancement in the group’s financial management practices.

Farah holds a master’s degree in Business & Management from ISCAE (a prominent Moroccan business school) and two master’s degrees in Supply Chain and Management. She also received numerous international certifications from prestigious institutions such as MIT, HEC Paris…

Farah is also a Board Member at the « Institut de Promotion Socio-Educative » (IPSE), an association in charge of ensuring excellent education based on innovative educational concepts for the children of OCP employees at pre-school, primary and secondary levels. She is also in charge of ICC Digital Standards Initiative within the Moroccan Trade Finance community.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Farah is passionate about sharing her knowledge and empowering women in the business world. She is deeply committed to fostering the inclusion of women in the business sector, tirelessly advocating for their leadership roles and full participation in economic development.

Recognizing the crucial importance of trade finance in Africa, she is currently in the process of establishing the African Trade Finance Association. This initiative aims to raise awareness and promote trade finance as a catalyst for growth on the continent. The association will focus not only on capacity-building and sharing best practices but also on promoting the inclusion and empowerment of women in the sector. Farah hopes to make a significant contribution to Africa’s economic transformation, leveraging trade finance as a driver of sustainable and inclusive development.
