For five years, treasury has been asking when regulation would catch up. In Barcelona, a different question took the lead: how do new technologies connect with the systems treasury already runs?

AI, digital assets, cash forecasting and payment infrastructure all featured heavily, but the conversations kept coming back to people, data and connectivity. As Neal Cooper of Ripple Treasury put it: “If you are not innovating you might as well be going backwards.”

From Justin Trudeau and Margrethe Vestager to Linxon, ASML, Porsche and the major banks, the message was clear: treasury needs to know where it is going — and make sure its technology can get it there.
