Currently Europol is looking for Specialist – Finance. The successful candidate will be mainly responsible for managing and administering all files related to financial transactions contributing to financial compliance, legality and regularity in accordance with Europol’s financial rules and regulations and with Europol Internal Control Framework objectives.

She/he will be entrusted with the following functions and duties:

  • Processing and/or coordinating the processing of a large volume of diverse financial transactions in a strongly regulated environment;
  • Producing and distributing financial reports, maintaining registers, databases and other documentation relating to financial administration processes;
  • Analysing, reviewing and presenting findings and recommendations for improving procedures, systems and controls in place with a specific aim to further develop procedures and policies to enhance sound financial management across Europol;
  • Advising management and staff members on issues related to the area of expertise and propose appropriate measures for improvement;

Key requirements and knowledge:

  • A level of education as described in the vacancy notice published on Europol’s website;
  • Experience, preferably five years or more, in the area of financial administration;
  • Experience in providing advice on a broad range of financial issues;
  • Experience in drafting financial strategic and policy documents (policies, guidelines, procedures) and financial reports.
  • Knowledge of key financial standards, with the ability to apply these effectively;
  • Ability to understand and apply the EU Financial Regulation;
  • Knowledge of internal control principles, best practices and processes with the ability to apply these effectively.

Indicative salary:

The basic monthly salary is EUR 6758.53 (step 1) or EUR 7042.56 (step 2). The indicative salary for a staff member (single) in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%) is:

a) Staff member (single) in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%): EUR 6976.28

b) Staff member with two dependent children in their custody in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%): EUR 9079.51
