INTERVIEW
Why did you decide to move from banking to fintech entrepreneurship?
After working on various projects at Citi and MUFG, I noticed that there was a real gap in the market for solutions that could help corporations optimize treasury management. I saw an opportunity to build something new and innovative, using my background and expertise to drive real value.
How do you see AI and automation changing treasury and finance?
I’ve seen firsthand just how transformative AI can be. For instance, at Citi, I worked on developing algorithms that could analyze vast amounts of data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings. This allowed us to optimize our corporate clients’ cash flow management and reduce their costs by millions!
What fintech breakthrough has had the biggest impact on treasury?
I think the story is still being written, but if I had to highlight two breakthroughs, I’d pick AI and the rise of stablecoins for global transactions, these will have a huge impact. I would love to hear how corporate treasurers are experiencing this. So if you an idea, feel free to share this with me.
You are still coding! How does that define the way you build financial products?
Two things stand out. First, it lets me quickly prototype solutions, which accelerates the development of robust, production-ready applications by our engineering teams. Second, it keeps me grounded in the reality that even small software changes can be complex. In finance, where coding, testing, and security are critical, that discipline matters—especially when there’s pressure to deliver quickly.
What more can you tell about the impact of new technologies?
New Tools like Cursor are really helping here. They can generate a first version of code in seconds, potentially saving programmers up to 60% of their time each day. That’s a game-changer in getting ideas off the ground quickly.
Thank you, Nirav, for sharing your story – we look forward to sharing more of your insights within the treasuryXL community.
